Digital money and no more cash –
yay or nay?

Would I mind abolishing cash?
I will make it short for you so you don't have to read a 145946 word long essay about it...

No, I wouldn't mind.
Having only digital money would bring a lot of advantages in my opinion.
Nice, so that's it for this entry, see you in my next one! Bye!

Just kidding! Haha ha... ha....... ha.

Let's get into it.

Just to give you some examples of what could become a lot easier and faster without "hard cash":

Scenario 11:
I have been on a little spontaneous city trip to Lyon, France, with my girlfriend this week and we drove there by ourselves with my car. So a thing on French highways are the tolls you have to pay every now and then.
Now for French drivers who use the highways frequently there is already an automated system with a sensor or something like that, which you place in your car and while driving through the toll stations it automatically tracks you going on and off the highway without having to stop the car... but that's not the point right now!
Normal people without that, have to get into an extra lane at the toll station, lower the window, get their wallets ready, count the money, put every single coin in, wait for the machine to count it and if there are some people in front of you, you can easily lose 5 to 10 minutes there!

Now without coins and hard cash:
You get into the line, the queue goes kinda slow but steady! You and everybody else just drives to the paying station, you hold your banking card in front of a sensor, not even a second later the machine tells you that you're ready to continue your ride, you continue your ride.
It's smooth, it's fast, you don't have to count every coin...

And you could apply the same for paying your ticket at a parking facility!

Scenario 21:
You're in the supermarket, your shopping cart is kind of full, you got everything for the week and you're in a hurry ("insert reason why") but in front of you is this annoying old lady, you let her in front of you because she only had like 4 things and you had like over 30 so thought this would go quickly... but no... she doesn't have to pay much but she grabbed her big round purse and started counting every single cent to get rid of her loose change... and right before she's counted everything she sneezes and forgets at how much she was... and when she finally has everything together the poor cashier has to count everything again just to make sure...
By the time it's your turn, your food has gone bad, you grew grey hair and the old lady in front of you is already buried.

How would this look like without any cash and change?
You let the old lady in front of you with a smile because you know that hard cash has been gotten rid of years ago.
The lady gets her card ready, enters her PIN and leaves. Now it's your turn. Everything is okay.

Scenario 32:
This time from another perspective.
You're a small vendor (e.g. on a flea market or a garage sale) and want to sell stuff. But you have to have a checkout with some change ready for your customers. Now a visitor wants to buy something but he only has a rather big bank note... you can imagine the rest.

So what would've happened if bank notes and coins weren't a thing?
A visitor wants to buy something. You accept his card, or he scans a QR code and sends you the money or does it via another fast and easy money-sending-platform.
You get your money. The visitor has the object of his choice. You both are happy. It is a good day.

Now, of course, there are still some dark side of getting rid of hard cash. For example that banks and in the end the government sees/can see everything you spend money on, but honestly, I personally don't care about that.
I would care more about the general security of my money. Like how much could robbers get out of my card if they got it or if they got near enough of it to use the NFC-"stealing method".
I think that banks would have to actually really think about that and come up with a good solution.

Another thing is that the people, in general, need to be sensitized for it to really work... and then we could get rid of all that hard cash!
